Indicible .

    Cherry Time .

Yesterday with my wife Janine we picked cherries ., whiteheart cherries . This year there are many of them . The blackbirds didn' t eat them before us . The picture shown here has been realised by scan of real cherries .

How much pleasant the cherry time is . Weather is sweet , sunny . A gentle breeze caresses you and makes the foliage murmur . We feel a exceptional feeling . Inexpressible . It is a happiness moment .

This makes me recall an old french song written in 1870 :" Le temps des cerises " ( Cherries Time ) . Here is the beginning of it :

When we will sing the cherry time ,

Happy nightingale and mocking blackbirds ,

All of them will be in a good time .

    Beauties will have mad head

And lovers , sun into their heart .

    " ………………………………….."

My friends , I whish you had known a Cherry Time and you could know it again and always

  • It reminds me of times when I was young, and I would pick raspberries with my father. Those are memories that last forever!

  • We didn't have a good cherry season with our tree this year...usually it is as you say-memorable.  We all go out to pick and my dog tries to clean up the ones that drop...

  • I love the cherries too even if the merlrmoquer arrive avant moi.

Je dois les acheter au supermarché.

Grand balayage! (scan?) Grandes cerises!

  • Cherry time would not be so special if we experienced it all year long. Loved the scan! Those cherries look so vulnerable. Take good care, Michel. Many more cherry times to you and your family.

  • Petit fruit si délicieux!!.. *s*...

  • As with all good things red, why does there have to be a pit? Love reading about your garden.

  • I didn't know you could scan fruit!  I'm going to experiment now.  Raspberries could make a bit of a mess though.  Tom

  • I used to pick raspberries and blueberries. I think I picked cherries once in Germany. Sunday was Fathers Day in America. Happy Fathers Day, Michel!

  •

Whe had a cherry orchard not too far away from home. They had a table near the road and when the cherry-time was there, they sold them.... the deep dark red ones.... some years they were bitter, but most years moist and sweet.

They were symbols of summer and like you say...of good weather and happiness.

Now I can't eat them anymore....I'm allergic to them.... but there are times I take extra allergy pills and eat one of two...............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    There Was a Cherry-Tree

THERE was a cherry-tree. Its bloomy snows
Cool even now the fevered sight that knows
No more its airy visions of pure joy --
As when you were a boy.

There was a cherry-tree. The Bluejay sat
His blue against its white -- O blue as jet
He seemed there then!-- But now -- Whoever knew
He was so pale a blue!

    There was a cherry-tree -- our child-eyes saw
The miracle:-- Its pure white snows did thaw
Into a crimson fruitage, far too sweet
But for a boy to eat.

There was a cherry-tree, give thanks and joy!--
There was a bloom of snow -- There was a boy --
There was a bluejay of the realest blue --
And fruit for both of you.

    James Whitcomb Riley

  • Never heard of whiteheart cherries, but they look yummy. The only cherries I get to eat are bought in a grocery store   I bet the ones that you pick fresh, taste a lot better. Your descriptions-a gentle breeze caresses you and makes the foliage murmer-beautiful! I like the way you write. Have a great week.

  • Wonderful picture.  I'm looking forward to reading more from you.

  • The whiteheart cherries are looking delicious. Here I saw the darker cherries at the market...I love to eat them from time to time. The scan of the cherries is nice Michel. My compliments

  • ...sounds wonderfully sensual bringing life to spirit and body! Oh, the bounties that are rained upon us. You will be enjoying tasty cherry goodies, yes?  MuSe

  • "How much pleasant the cherry time is . Weather is sweet , sunny . A gentle breeze caresses you and makes the foliage murmur . We feel a exceptional feeling . Inexpressible . It is a happiness moment ."....just loved this discription...

  • You are an artist with a camera

  • Oh, Dear Friend, again your blog is delightful, and brings to my mind a wonderful day back in 1962.

My folks had a cherry tree in their East side yard, that produced beautifully that summer. On June 30th, my brother, his wife and new daughter were coming to visit. Well, my brother is very fond of cherry pies. So it was my job to bake those pies, regardless of the fact I was nearly full term in my pregnancy with my first child.

I labored over those pies with much love and affection, as I am quite fond of this brother. To please him brought lots of joy to my heart. The pies got baked, and they turned out pretty well.

My brother and family came, so we got to see the new baby darling. Cynthia Kay was a lovely child. We were all going to her christening that evening.

At five that afternoon, I was feeling really weird. By 9:42 that night, I was the mother of a girl. I didn't get to go to the christening, or out dancing with my husband and sister-in-law and I didn't get any of those three cherry pies I baked. Oh well, I lived over it.

  • I can understand Janine and your delight in picking the cherries and probably recalling your youthful days. The only cherry tree I ever saw in a garden was in High Wycombe England when we last visited England our friends were alive and were very proud of their cherry tree and took our photos under it. Sadly they have now gone to a better place, although younger than us. But a cherry always reminds me of Lily and Cliff. I also Liked the Folkstone buses. Thanks for all your get well wishes .Hopefully I am well over it all, I feel a lot better anyway. so thanks once again you have been a true friend. Marjie

  • Hi!

  • I think we all need a little Cherry Time in our lives!!

  • Wonderful... Wonderful... Wonderful :) Thanks,

    Jim

  • I wish.. I desire now I had known those times, Michel... Thank you for that! Have a great weekend!

  • oh dear! cherries are mouth-watering indeed. love em! i wish we have cherries here. the only place where i can get cherries is the supermarket. what a bore!

i'm very frustrated at the unfairness. the italians didn't deserve to exit the world cup humiliated. it hurts and i'm lost for words.

p/s michel, do you follow up with the french rugby team?

  • At reading the various comments I can say I am not alone to say the cherry time is a special time by different ways

    Michel

  • Michel,

I love cherries and have fond memories of picking them (and eating too many) when I visited my cousins in Kentucky.  It was the first time I had ever had fresh cherries because I grew up in the city.  I also picked strawberries and ate too many of those.  My tummy hurt a bit, but it was worth it!.

I am sorry I missed your MSN message.  We had just come back home and we are in Ohio now.  We were unloading the car and then having some dinner.  We will be going to Cancun in July.  I hope to have some pictures on my site this week from the cottage Mike's family has in Canada.  It was so beautiful there.

  • The cherries we have here in Holland are the really dark and sweet ones. I have good childhood memories of eating cherrires until I was sick

  • What joy life brings us when we just look around and taste, smell, touch this life of ours. I love the scan and it brings sweet memories of fistfuls of cherries I stuffed in my mouth and climbing high in the tree. Cherries are never as good as when one sits high in the tree and eats them as fast as you can. Jass

  • they're quite good. pretty clever tactics they used against the wallabies the other day. i love watching guys knocking each other out just for a ball. hehehe... it's kinda like me and touch rugby. slightly different because i don't lunge at the oponents. i wish i could.

    love, crystal

    mike

  • Michel, this is rich and beautiful!  I use to do this with sunflowers back when there were just copiers and I loved the 3-D effect!  It is amazing how beautiful this is!  Do they just melt in your mouth?

    Kat
