" Don' t go down the same old route "

    Pub on bus .

On last Saturday I was at the bus station of Folkestone , little seaside resort near Dover in Kent ( South Eastern England ) . I was intrigued by a publicity written on a bus: " Don' t go down the same old route " rather difficult to translate exactly for me .

I have understood it invited us to diversify our itineraries of travel on holidays for example , and not always use the same way to go or not always stay at the same place . Interesting publicity .

Then I thought it could also mean we had to renew our way of life , to avoid the routine , to attempt new approachs of beings , things and , why not , to change our heart and so on ….

It was on last Saturday in Folkestone a simple pub on a bus ! Without importance .

  • But the Ottoman Empire.. it collapsed after WW1. One reason for WW2 was that Hitler was trying to reclaim all the territory that Germany had lost in WW1. How is it different from what Palestine is doing? Its not justifiable.

Hmmm.. the same routine, how interesting. I remember a few weeks ago, I went home a different route. And I discovered a beautiful lake and a park by my house. A perfect place to spend summer.

  • I like that "Don't go down the same old route"

maybe this is a way to renew and improve ourselves ... by choosing to do different things we can create happiness and diversity in our lives.

    Have a nice day Michel!

  • I could mean all of those things!

  • Very meaningful! The best part of it is that one should choose what meaning best fits to one! Nice pictures, Michel

  • tu as raison, michel...quelle routine vas-tu changer?

    : )

  • yeah I've seen those ads on buses around here too...I think it's clever because you're right, it can mean all of that...can be interpreted differently according to situation and mood...makes you think!

  • sante!!!!!!!!!

    chin-chin!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And I had visions of a pub (drinking establishment) on the upper deck of a bus..... Why sit in a pub and get smashed when you can ride around?

Course when they actually all get totally smashed, then you don't have to drive anywhere..... the bus would be moving even while it's parked.

  • Hello! Just happened by... I have developed an almost freakish love of languages, so your site caught my attention very quickly.

    Have a great day!

  • Aloha Michel.. yes it could mean all of those things. I am thinking isn't it funny how we find the familiar in the new and sometimes, if we are very lucky, the new in the familiar. Take good care,
    Linda

  • It certainly makes a person think.  I like to think that both ideas are equally important to our development as people.  Yes, perhaps I will be taking one of those buses on my vacation.

  • ...clever ad, it has us all thinking. MuSe

  • stopped by to say  hello...Hope youre doing well..

  • Thank you for the kind greetings.  We do find words of wisdom in the strangest places.  They all say different things to different people

  • Language is a funny thing!

La langue est une chose drôle!

  • So you were in the land of englishjuls!!!  Hope you had a great time, and yes, that sign is thought-provoking.

  • That's a clever advertisement, I like it!!!

  • I love the way you bring new perspectives to light Michel!!! Thank you and have a very wonderful weekend

  • I think it is there to signify both... never stick to the same old things... try new things... alas... I desperately need such a rule in my life

  • Yes I am a creature of habit. I like the familiar. But I also like some adventure. I must remember to not go down the same old route.  Good one!!!!  @-}-}--

  • mmmm - a few issues of language going on - I'm with GC13 in thinking that there is a drinking establishment situated on the bus, that is, the pub - we (most Australians) would probably refer to that thought-provoking, comment-inspiring signage as an ad. But then of course we would also get some mileage of the word route (sounds like "root", implies some sexuality) being involved rather than the more Taoist concepts you have drawn from it.....
    Bonjour

  • It gives me hope that there is some wisdom in advertising.

  • Wisdom is available for all who have eyes to see! Your eyes are obviously OPEN!

  • You know me, never going in the same direction. In fact my trip to Europe was to send me in a new direction of life.

  • Yes, a good one.

I wonder if routine comes from route.

Language is funny ,Pub is a café or a bar or pubblicity.

Why to go down? to the left? to the right?

I some places they indicate left with down and right with up.

  • This makes me think of the way that advertisers try to work on us...they try to take something that really DOES or SHOULD matter to us and say that if we buy a certain thing, we'll have it.  I'm with Proverbs_31...you find wisdom in the insignificant.

  • Answer to Carlo ; yes routine comes from route . Always the same route .     Michel

  • Wow, I didn't realise you were over here in the UK! Have you headed to the suffolk area yet?

)).  what a confused comment that was!  i promise to revise my french after exams!  and i promise to look into taking up french studies again if i'm able next year at uni too.  !!

  • Very nice thought Michel. Your mind is working overtime...or.. maybe my mind is not working. LOL Ive always wanted to ride one of those buses.

  • I love how your mind works yes we all need to guard against the routine the same old route. It makes me laugh to think I do the same old thing expect different results and don't get them. It is the route I need to change. Smile Jass

  • Michel , You know us english we are "sayings" ,thats for your thoughts about the football , I wonder if we will get to play Belguim if they beat Brazil. If its Fathers day in France then " Happy Fathers Day " Michel

  • That's great. It's always a good idea to try new things. Change patterns, discover alternatives. I like that! I haven't seen anything like it here in The States.

  • I like it!!  Very thought provoking too!!

  • A good observation, as usual. I always like to take "the road less traveled by", you never know what wonderful things you may discover. Have a great weekend Michel!

  • "to renew our way of life , to avoid the routine , to attempt new approachs of beings , things and , why not , to change our heart and so on …."

I totally agree. That's what life is all about. Taking new roads, constantly changing but at the same time constant.

  • Renew our way of life... I have to agree...maybe it is the best we can do

  • hey michel! i always try to not go down the same route. but alas! i usually end up lost. hehehe...

p/s i'll be wise with my choice of friend. thanks dear!

  • I didn't know you'd been to England!  Folkestone is not a particularly good advertisement for our country is it?  It used to be a really nice resort but now its become a bit of a problem.  Tom

  • just wanted to say...  happy father's day!

  • Awesome food for thought, Michel. It is so adventagious to be able to adjust, and not expect things to be the same all the time. By going a different route, whether it be a different road to get somewhere, or changing ones life for the better, one widens out in their knowledge. The same old route can become very mundane.

  • Buses are a miracle when subways are hot and gooey in the summer

  • I always enjoy your posts Michel!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend

  • great!!!  it is true! we should take a different way once in a while! it's good to see something new!

  • it's a good message...

  • Superb, Fauquet!
