  • La gloire du Pissenlit .
    The glory of the Dandelion
    .

Among the other wild plants : ranunculus , veronica , purple lamium etc...the Dandelion spraids its golden rays . Its flowers look like suns . Open our eyes . The beauty of the world is standing at our feet .

  • Ils sont jolis si vous arrêtez de vraiment les regarder. Je pense même une mauvaise herbe mérite un deuxième regard.

  • Hubbard makes wine from dandelions.  There were not enough this year, though.

  • They do have a special beauty about them...

  • And, the blossoms are good to eat. Thanks, Michel. I really appreciate you.

  • this is wonderful - my sons often pick dandelion bouquets for me!  Have a nice afternoon!

  • absolutely beautiful!! Thank you so much for posting such lovely pictures and thoughts! You are so wonderful

  • I have always thought that they are very pretty, even if they are supposed to be weeds

  • By my standards, dandelions sure aren't weeds

  • As a kid we used to hold dandelions under our chins for the reflections

  • Why are the little dandelions so maligned?
You  can make coffee from the roots and a very nice wine. You can put the leaves in salad and they have lots of vitamins. And you can make pretty chains for crowns and necklaces. If you tried to culitivate such a useful plant they would all immediately die.

  • It is a beautiful photo, but the lawn care guy in me cringes!

  • Nicely said!!!

  • On my side of the world, people toil for hours to try to stop the growth of these beauties, as they are considered weeds. Not me!!! I love them, I also hear they make a great wine.

  • And to think I could have seen your real garden...One day perhaps.

  • Stopped in for a visit as I see you on Portia's site so often.  I am very glad that I did..you have a lovely place

  • children always think they're beautiful enough for their loved ones...and fun to play with when they turn into puff balls

it's funny how our attitudes change about many things as we grow older...should we change all of our attitudes?

    :)

  • Michel...i agree...hence my favourite flowers are sunflowers...totally reminds me of the sun and just the mere sight of the flowers has the effect of brightening up my moods!=)

    Thanxs..very nice pic! ^_^

  • Many people say that the Dandelion is a weed!  But my Dad alway said, "there are no weeds just mis- placed plants".  I love your mis-placed plants and flowers.   :)        @-}-}---

  • The little spiders like to hide in the roots of the dandelions. In the winter is very warm  and there is always a lot of life going on, in the roots of the dandelions.

    The rabbits love it too.

About making wine from his roots, I ll prefer wine made from grapes or coke with Mystical2.

  • In the United States, the dandelion is often viewed as a weed.  It is charming and brings great joy to children!

  • I remember how I used to pick dandilions as a child and make necklaces and crowns with them.

  • This is beautiful... really beautiful

  • Hola Michel!!

I do hear that dandelions make some good wine as well.  Hmmm...guess they aren't that bad after all.

And yes...go Senegal!!!!!  LOL  OMG!  The nation must be in mourning!

    Mike

  • Yes. And you can eat them, and they are used to heal certain illnesses.

No Michel, she doesn't look like me and I don't look like her.
I liked the expression of her.

    Have a nice weekend!

  • Your dandelions look like the one marigold we have blooming in our front patch at moment. Everything else is green. Our dandelions are more open and stringy. Ist June today our first day of winter, sun is shining but it is cold, have heater on therefore must be cold. Think I'll go back to bed. Matt has a cold have told him to stay in bed and take paracetamol, don't expect he will take the tablets but will stay in bed. I have had earache all night and can't have x rays till wednesday, so shall be taking pills myself. Will try some warm baby oil in ear not to drink.. Bon jour monsieur. Cheers Marjie. saucy aren't I, but only joking.

  • Tres belle.  Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

  • I'm thinking of the dandelions that my children used to bring me and the clover chains that they used to make.

  • touch rugby, michel.

  • But the roots go down so far!  And so difficult to pull up!  Tom

  • They smell nice too.....

  • It is a beautiful picture! Too bad they are considered a nuisance plant around here. I enjoy seeing fields of yellow Dandelions, they are really pretty. Have a great weekend, Michel !

  • if my neighbors would let me live, i would let all the dandelions live.  :)

  • Very nice! Did you also know that dandelions can help renew calcified soil? Since their roots go down so deep, they help pull nutrients back up to the topsoil.  And they *do* make wonderful eating!   Vous avez un tres beau site et c'est un plaisir de l'avoir decouvert Merci!

  • Beautiful picture. and you are correct about beauty. Sometimes we can't see it because there is so much of it we don't recognize

  • i assume you will be rooting for the les blues.

  • No mention of the soup made from these beauties, give it a try...the recipe is on the internet.

  • beautiful pictures of beautiful flowers...There is some beauty still out there in the world...Flowers is one of them..

    Enjoy the beauty..

  • These flowers are a weed in Australia.
My parents were very politically correct when it came to planting out the garden - they thought we should only have Australian native plants in our garden despite the proliferation of European invaders in the gardens all around. Our garden was given over to gum trees, wattles, banksias, grevilleas, ferns etc. - when we first arrived (I was four) there were only a few trees - my father used to stand us next to a newly planted gum tree and say that in 10 years time we would not be able to imagine we were ever the same size. Our native garden encouraged the return of native birds to the area and as I stand on the balcony today looking over the treetops it is hard to recall when the block* was bare.
(*block of land that is - is this an Aussie term?)

  • no, i'm not as beautiful as her. she's gorgeous.

oh c'mon michel. do cheer up! les blues will probably wake up in their next match.

  • I love the little blue flowers!

  • To some, tehse are weeds. To me, they are just more miracles.

  • Ah.. this is so wonderful... The beauty of the world is standing at our feet. You have very special eyes!

  • I agree. When we are cycling I always point out to my children what flowers can be seen, and tell them their names. They do appreciate it! Dandelions have their charme...Steven sais: "When you blow the seeds of the dandelion away in one time, you will live a hundred years." I sure hope he is right.

  • ...Michel, in the United States, dandelions are discouraged. Many a homeowner's nightmare come true with the spotting of one. Very refreshing to view your concept of the "beautiful" dandelion. MuSe

  • My sentiments exactly.  Such a valuable plant and in my world all anyone wants to do is kill it.  There are too many who haven't a clue what real beauty is and probably couldn't see it if slapped on the face with it.

Love your photo and your words, they fit perfectly for the Dandelion.  When I see them I always smile at their glory.
