    Faith and vigilance

In the middle of the fam ward , Bull , the Irish setter is sleeping totaly trustful in his  surrounding . However , all around , horses put to a carriage go back and forth , children are playing ball . Laurel , the cocker , is dozing off but remains awake . I wonder what is the best of these both behaviours or if they complete each other : faith ( confidence ) or permanent vigilance ? Faith and vigilance ? What do you think of that ?

  • Perhaps one is ever on guard while the other rests, completing the never ending circle of duty to the master. Merci Beaucoup for the kind invitation to lunch. Sorry time didn't permit. I love your Country.

  • Looks like they make a good team to me!  Such pretty dogs!

  • Perhaps they take turns keeping watch...

  • beautiful poochies, fauquet...  i wish we could have a doggie here...  we've got 3 stray cats, though!  (that live outside, but...)

  • Je pense qu'ils sont beaux.

J'aime lire vos mots.

  • Cute!  These two different types of dogs usually have different tempraments.  Cockers are more anxious (definately not faith) and Setters are more relaxed (definitely not vigilance!)

Mignon!

  • Wise as serpents and gentle as doves! Faith and vigilance - hand and hand - not surprising ... but truthful and hopeful!

  • I think that faith and vigilance are very valuable assets to a person individually, but when combined, like in this picture, a much more complex, complete, and meaningful asset is gained

  • the cocker spaniel looks out for the two of them :)   they are very friendly with each other it looks like!

    ils sont des beaux chiens!

  • awwwww!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think a mixture of both is a must... vigilant but not too much... you also have to have some faith

  • Wow love the picture and the thought. I love dogs they are so loving. I lost mine just a few months ago and have not been quite ready to get another one yet. But share some more. Thanks for coming by my site. Jass

  • They are both beautiful dogs.  You gave me something to think about.  Maybe a combination of the two behaviours is the best.

  • I think that faith and vigilance are great in balance.  Enough vigilance to know that we're not to sleep for too long and enough faith to know that there are times to relax.  Especially if you have a buddy watching over you!!

  • Lovely animals. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom!

  • Many years ago I learned from Katja (Katja wasthe dog of my parents in law) that she was watching everything. We were thinking that she was asleep, but when she noticed that something was wrong... Se used to protect Alexa as a baby...if Katja thought that someone would hurt her, she was highly alerted and almost agressive. I think your dogs have divided their tasks

  • a vrait travial d'equipe!!!

  • Ils sont tous les deux beaux.

    Did I say that right?

  • Looks like mother instinct.Protect the other , and the other is completely confident in the protection of the other.

Animals always teach us a lot if we want to look.

  • Lovely pictures ,you are lucky to live in the country Michel

  • I would vote for faith! Lovely dogs

  • Total faith, like a child sleeping and knowing that they will be watched over and protected by their mother. Good picture. Have a nice day, Michel!

  • ...delightful post and picture! Bull and Laurel look the perfect team, both bringing something to the table, faith and vigilance. Heard a quotation that went something like: Pray while doing the best you can do.
...suspect Laurel sleeps while Bull keeps vigil. MuSe

  • Beautiful doggies...One watching out while the other one sleeps..So cute!

    8-)

  • I think they are both desirable, not always available but necessary. Thanks for your visits to my humble site. Cheers Marjie as you put it. What I was called as a little girl, Oh! to be again.

  • Trust... trust that no one will harm them, trust in each other. Trust in your love. I love dogs, they are one of lifes greatest gifts. I have 5 of them & yet at times they drive me mad, I do love them very much.
    Your dogs are very beautiful!!
    All the best, Zara.

  • What other animals do you have Michel?...you're so lucky..i wish i had a dog..can't get one til i move out! *sigh*

Thanxs for the comments...i'll listen to you since you are so much wiser than me! *smiles*

  • Both dogs seem so much at peace.  It must be very lovely where you live.  I, too, have a cocker spaniel.  His name is Pal.  He is blond.  People left him at my daughter's apartment house when they moved away.  He almost starved to death before he was discovered.  I adopted him without even seeing him.  I have never been sorry for my impulse to help him.  My cat, Maggie, does not agree!  Thank you for visiting my site.  I enjoy trying to read all of your posts in French before I look at the English.  Perhaps I will get brave and try to write something in French.  I would very much like to take more classes in French.  The community college in my town offers French, but only during the day while I am at work.

  • I like seeing your world through your eyes.  World peace could take a lesson here !  @-}-}---

  • oh my goodness! what a cute pair!

hmm... michel, what do you mean by, 'you make me think at a night butterfly around a lamp'?

  • This reminds me of my hubby and me. Im sleeping.

  • This makes some of your readers smile.. And in me, it raises onther kind of feelings. Such as in envy. I have been envying nature lately. As for me, I´d like to have someone to be awake for me while I took some rest. Have been awake for long too. Never mind Michel. This is my bue period. Loved your post and adorable dogs..

  • AH! how loyal.

  • I think it's kind of the tag team action you know...and they are so cute doing it...

  • What sweet looking dogs!  They are beautiful!

  • Faith is vigilante!

I love the picture. The dogs are beautiful. Kind of reminded me of Yin and Yang. Perfect balance.

  • so......can you please tell me what a contarst is?

  • Answer to Littlelayne Jacob : The contrast seems to me between the life figured by the little Layne and your pictures of death .

    mike

  • Thanks for explaining. Been to your fine country before and met the french underground who saved my grandpa during WWII. Went to the caves of the chartreuse and drank the yellow and the green...... Later

  • I'm not sure which is the "best" way to be, but I do know that the dog (or person) with faith is the happiest.

  • Those are beautiful friends.

  • it seems that they make a perfect team.....they are both beautiful dogs!

  • Personally I'd choose both faith and vigilance!  Your photograph is an excellent example of both.  Tom

  • oh no, michel. it didn't offend me one bit. i was a curious, as usual.

    i'll be careful. thanks hun.

  • Sort of Yin and Yang, aren't they?

  • Oh...so wonderful.

    Like a happy harmonious marriage.....

I hope you're all having a wonderful mothersday!

  • have a nice weekend!

  • They make a good team.....one to warn the other.

  • Lying down... resting... with no cares... observing the surroundings... wouldn't it be great to be a dog?
