                      Travaux dans le jardin

              Works in the garden

This picture shows me at full work in the vegetable garden . It is hard to dig the clayey compact soil where the leeks were . I will nextly saw beans there . The gardener receives rewards but also disappointments . Potatoes , salads , peas and young leeks are growing well but at the contrary  carrots have badly germinated .
And the weeds envade the ground . Run , Michel and attack them ! The turtledoves pick up young peas ? Quickly , Michel , protect them with a net ! The mildew already is threatening . Aphids already are on the honeysuckle . Treat , Michel !
150 meters of hedges must be cliped , and every week the lawn to cut . Courage , Michel !
How lucky you are to live on the rhythm of the seasons .

  • Je ris Michel. LOL..... "Michel Dirigé et les attaque!" Vous êtes drôles. Vous semblez durs au travail. Bientôt vous pouvez faire de merveilleux potages.

  • And we struggle on!  Yes, have courage Michael!  Thank you for tellling of your garden and your love of the changing seasons.

  • It's hard work, isn't it?  But, we do it because we love it!  You are much more ambitious than I am.  I'm happy with my herbs and roses.  I'm trying some tomatoes though!

  • So much to do when you love gardening...

  • It must be nice when one has four distinct seasons every 4 months... here we have all them on  a single day! Right now, miday, there´s summer my orchids were almost dead because of our weather.. but it is nice saving them, isnt it? Nurturing... taking care, watering... that is nice! Thanks for the picture! Have a great day!

  • keep on gardening, michel!  i'm sure it all looks (and will taste) wonderful!  bravo!

  • Yes, you are very fortunate to live in the rhythm of the seasons!!  I think that it is more natural...

That is a LOT of hedges to trim!!

  • Yes you and we are lucky!   @-}-}---

  • ...oh yes, the changing seasons are always bringing something new and reborn. The seasonal foods we eat, the seasonal flora and fauna we enjoy, the seasonal weather that we embrace at first but then can't wait for the next season.
...ah, seems earlier concerns over vegetables were for naught, except for the carrots. Also see, you are prepared for the conditions of challenge. Me, I usually end up with wet and muddy shoes.  Be Well ~ Be Blessed. MuSe

  • Have to laugh....so there's more to gardening than just planting the seed.... don't forget the pesky rabbits....!

  • I bet it is a lot of fun though too Enjoy Michel!!!

  • Had to stop by for a short visit. It looks as if you have plenty to do to keep you busy. I guess the good side of it is; that you are getting lots of exercise and staying slim and trim. AND...just think of all those tasty vegetables. Have a nice weekend!

  • Your poor back, sounds as if you are fighting a losing battle here and there. My Matt looks at our apology for a garden and says he must do something about it. I dissuade him. I would rather have a healthy husband that one breathing his lungs out and having another stroke. So he leaves it. He has told the family to take what plants they want, as when we move, seems we are going to but I don't know when, he is just going to take his potted plans that he loves. He was a keen gardener before his lungs deteriorated and he had the stroke just over 1 year ago now. Doctor said he will be on his pills for the rest of his life. He also periodically suffers from gout, so has to be careful what he eats, and mustn't drink alcohol. Anyway I hope you get enough to eat out of your garden. At our other place, we have been here 3 years we had all roses. Lovely. Have a good day Cheers Portia

  • don't you think 'working the earth' is very rewarding work? :)

    bon courage, michel - vraiment!

  •   It's sometimes hard to see where aphids fit into the great scheme of things, but all in all, you must love gardening as much as I do.

  • How funny you are, my friend! I laughed aloud at your garden stories. Courage, indeed! In my part ot Texas, what we call the "Blackland Prairie", the soil is very black and made of clay, as well. Very fertile, some of the worlds' most fertile, in fact. But hard on the back.

    And the weeds.......

Ah. What do we have to complain about?

  • Sounds like a lot of work. I hope you reap great benefits!

  • Sounds like very hard work.. but I guess its all worth it in the end

    Enjoy the weekend

  • ah, Michel..but here, the rhythm of the seasons is disturbed by the tropical location, leaving the record player skipping on the sunniest

  • Have a nice weekend, Michel!

  • Gardening is such hard work..But the rewards are so wonderfull...Lots of good foods to eat..

    have a great weekend..

  • I have just now tilled the soil for my garden.  I will grow many hot peppers, three tomatoe plants, two okras, two luffa gourd plants and some flowers.  It is a very small plot to care for.  In the past I made too much and could not take care of it.  The weeds were taller than the rest!

  •   Even though it is a lot of work, it is so nice!  Enjoy!

  • But it keeps you busy and think of the rewards of a meal made with your own grown produce!  There is nothing like the real rewards of our labours.

  • Looks like a lot of work, but it must be rewarding at the end to see the vegetables above the ground!!!

  • My dream is to have a vegetable garden, but we only have a small town garden with room for shrubs and flowers but no vegetables.  So, I grow tomatos in a bag and that is it!  Tom

  • Eating vegetables earned by the sweat of your brow makes them so much sweeter!

  • Well..as with everything in life that we want...we've got to work hard to for...it's that much sweetier when we get it! Don't you agree wise one?=PPPPPPPPP

I'm so envious of you..i will make sure i ask you for tips once i start up my own little garden! *smiles*

  • Oh, dear Michel, you inspire me to get out there to work in my yard. However, the water standing in it retards the work. I do have some lovely irises blooming.

  • So funny, true and inspiring. Have courage! The aphids fear your footsteps!

  • Busy times for you Michel. I hope you don't get overstressed by working in the garden. (relax)

Jouke did make his mother a nice Mothers Day gift... a flower made of staws. It doesn't need water and with nice colors like yellow, apricot and pink a nice item on my desk.

  • Oh I would love to have time to garden. Don't over work yourself.

  • quick michel! run michel! courage michel! sounds like an action movie your living through, not "just" gardening  strength! and more than that: I'm sure you don't need to be told but - enjoy! wonderful stuff!

  • I would love to grow my own veg, I have photos on my site of my hols in Ireland now Michel

  • My dad loved to work in the garden as well.  Very relaxing.  Good luck with yours, my friend.

    mike

  • ...gardening is tough work but we do it because we love it! Good luck getting rid of the aphids, mildew and weeds!

  • That's a great pastime... wish I had a garden too.

  • Keep up the good work, Michel!!! Your hard-work will eventually pay off.

  • It might be hard work but it is pleasurable I am sure - what could be more rewarding than working in harmony with Mother Nature?
All the best to you & your garden,
    Zara

  • We have clay here too. When I had a vegetable garden I had the same problems with them....carrots not doing well.... but I had the best salad and spinach........... the best............ until Tschernobyl happened..........and the leaves changed...... all kinds of odd forms....

Now that part of the garden is very different. Afterr years we now eat our berries...black and red......

  • Ah to have the earth between one's fingers..................

  • I share your love of seasonal shift and appreciate your garden updates - thankyou.

aah! but i see everyone is too respectful of your age and no comments on your derriere which seems to me to be the focus of the picture - at the risk of being offensive - nice ass Michel! LOL

  • The rabbits usually eat our garden, or at least part of it.  To be honest, I don't mind.  They have to live too.
