Merci .
The desesperate gardener ' s song !!
I speak here about my vegetable garden where I come from for a walk . It is a desert . Carrots , potatoes , peas , leeks , parsley sown or planted at the beginning of April have not germinated and grown up . About for three weeks weather is without rain , cold in the morning with a drying wind coming from north . Nothing is going .
However tulips , lily of the valley , mauve , purple and white lilac , broom ( picture above ) are bloomed in advance . Flowers : yes . Vegetables : no . What to do ?
Anyway a vegetable gardener is always not happy . Go , my friends , wish me to keep hope and courage . Thank you .

Its been very dry here , so I have had to do some watering, but they say its going to rain, I love Tulips
I have sent you my email address thanks Michel
Le buisson jaune est beau. Forseythia? J'ai des ennuis avec des tomatos.
It is quite dry here also. Here's to the hope that rain can bring. Hang on, gardener Michael!
I believe with your persistance you will soon see the fruits of your work...
It is the ever hoping heart that eventually bears fruit! Have courage dear gardner friend - He who cares for the birds of the air also cares for the green things in the field! Time - just give it time ...
and don't forget to WATER!
Michel,
You have such a varied audience. I like what Provers31 said. I aspire to be a Proverbs 31 woman too! I hope Mike will feel blessed because of this.
Keep the faith dear friend. That plus daily watering will make for a garden from which you will harvest much!
Pendre sur! Courage!
Deb
We have now had 27 dry days (in the south-east of England). I have to water the garden now as my precious plants are dying! Tom
It is good that your flowers are doing so well, and I hope that you can continue to work so diligently with the vegetables. Keep trying, Michel, and I'm sure that the garden will turn out beautifully and be full of delicious vegetables before long. Keep it up! ~
the picture is beautiful!
i guess the conditions are not the best this year for your vegetables, but...you still have flowers
let's do a rain dance
That Broom looked lovely, I thought it was Mimosa until I read. I expect your vegies will come good in time, meanwhile enjoy the glorious flowers. I like flowers better than vegtables anyway. Are they expensive in France?. Thanks for your thoughts and visits. I am not completely cured but pain is receding. Cheers Portia

My gosh, I am going to forget how to write in French!!!
Gardens are always needing something: rain, sun, shade, love ,prayers, and care. They are like children.@-}-}--
You have beautiful flowers. Nothings up in my garden either.
Great flowers but I have to "select all" to make the text visible. Ron
I wish you success with your vegetables, Michel. I know it's disheartening when they don't come up.
Never heard of a Broom plant it sure is pretty!!
Michel, I think rain is coming your way! We had a nice bit of rain here this morning. Had my plants outside, to catch the rain...
Forgot to mention your flower garden looks great on the picture. At this moment I am enjoying the blossoms in my apple tree - I hardly can't count them. Maybe it will be a good season for the apple. love, Bianca
I know so well how it is to get too little rain. Right now we are getting generous rains, though. I wish I could send you some of it. Hang in, my friend. At least your flowers are doing well.
That broom looks so beautiful!! What a beautiful photo! I hope your veggies grow soon... I am sure they are but I guess you can't rush Mother Nature.
All the best, Zara.
I am sure things will turn out well and good.... And I am sure you won't lose hope nor courage
Combattez le bon combat, mon ami. Les légumes se développeront par la suite. Bonne chance.
What a beautifull picture....The wonders of the garden...I love it...Looking at the stages of growth and the beauty the flowers brings us...
happy day....
rubymoon

I pray for rain!

Here's hoping you get the needed rain, Dear Friend. The picture is gorgeous.
Is La Traviata to your liking..Oh gardener of song...
The flowers are beautiful.
I will send the rain your way!
Happy Gardening!

Some flowers can be eaten too.friture de roses à la Michel. Courage, the weather will get warm and the veg will grow, some music will help them...kidding.
The price of the vegetables is terribly expensive this year.
Bien à toi, et bon weekend.
Carlo
We have flowers blooming here already, a lot of years there is still snow on the ground at this time, it's been really hot though for the past few weeks. I'm sorry I havent been writing at xanga lately, I'm going through a bit of a tuff time and I'd rather just keep my thoughts and feelings to myself. I'm glad you keep checking back but I'm not sure if I'll be writing there for a while.
How fully flowered!
The weather isn't what's needed to grow vegetables. I don't know what's the matter. The Lilac hasn't had flowers for 12 years!! And not it's growing many plumes which will develop in flowers.
Perhaps you can make wooden boxes... re-sow and put it all under glass.
In the past I've had the same once... and then the weather changed and I wetted the ground and suddenly there was green all over the place...... but that was once.
Have a nice weekend!
Hugsssssssssssssss
Just as well as you cultivate your friends... you´ll do good to your vegetables too. It does not depend only on you... But you´ll get them to grow, I´m sure!
As for your question, I don´t speak French yet. Not yet!
Have a nice weekend!!!
Be patient... your garden will grow... all you need is time... hmm... and perhaps a bit of water... but then again, what do I know? I'm not a gardener. =(
For you, I will pray that your garden grows.
Finally rain came yesterday , Thursday . At Last!
thank you for printing the picture. I've heard you talk about the gardem but never seen it, so it lovely to get that chance.
Thursday...Rain ...Great...
Just stopped in to say hello. Too cold here today to work in my flowers. I wish you luck with your garden. I can hardly wait for the first taste of a freshly picked, ripe tomato. Let's pray for much needed rain.
how about a strawberry patch and a mulberry tree? -from my childhood...
I used to think worms were icky too, so when I dug them out of my area of ground I'd pick them up and transport them to the other side of the backyard.
...Michel, it's too early for vegetables. May will bring the vegetables. Hope you are watering the vegetables? Enjoy your beautiful flowers, my friend, while the vegetables will soon follow. Had to chuckle with your comment that vegetable gardners are always unhappy.
...hope and courage in all things, Michel.
If automobiles were women, you'd have two wives?
bon courage Michel!
Michel
So sorry to hear about your lack of rain and your imperiled garden! We have had unusual weather here in Texas, as well: too much rain and late freezes.
I will keep my fingers crossed, for good luck, for us both.
Lovely blooms!
I have been out in the garden, digging and hoeing the soil in my first bid to grow a few vegetables!
Do you have any good hints on which vegetables would be best to plant around this time of April? I have a south facing garden, with a little clay content to the soil, but not too much.
looks a bit like wattle this broom -does it make hayfever?
Answer to Eightate : no it was not a wattle . It does not maéke hayfever . It is a broom .
We had more rain than we knew what to do with this past week end. It's a shame we couldn't have shared some of it with your poor vegetables (less the hail of course. That wouldn't have done your plants any good at all).
This happened to our vegetable garden last summer. I hope you have a good crop this year!
